Prohibition and Excise officials have uncovered two instances of the alleged illegal sale of defence canteen liquor in Alwal, seizing 163 bottles valued at around Rs 2.11 lakh from two houses.

Investigations have revealed that former defence personnel allegedly obtained liquor through subsidised canteen facilities by utilising their

own and other eligible persons’ quotas, while their wives reportedly sold the stock to customers at higher prices.

In the first operation, the sleuths searched a house in Saraswathi Nagar, Lothukunta, belonging to Manyam Nagaprasanna and her husband, Ram Anjaneyulu. The team recovered 96 bottles of defence liquor from the premises.
