Hyderabad: Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy on Wednesday announced that the Telangana Government has decided to waive the housing loans to be paid by beneficiaries of weaker section housing schemes.

Replying to a question raised by MLA Vemula Veeresham and others during Question House in Legislative Assembly, the Housing Minister said an amount of Rs. 3,920.56 crore for 29,64,435 beneficiaries would be waived off.

During the debate, the minister denied reports that the



government was yet to clear the bills of contractors of Indiramma Housing scheme. He said that the government has allocated an amount of Rs. 565 crore in the budget for 2017-18 for the construction of houses for weaker sections.

He said the collectors of new districts have been directed to review the applications. He said that the tender process was being initiated and works on construction of new houses was expected to begin in the month of June.
