IT and Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Rama Rao said elections to the GHMC could be held in third week of January.  Speaking to newsmen at the Secretariat here on Friday, KTR said that the ruling party will win the Mayor’s post by winning all seats in the GHMC elections. Stating that a special manifesto was being prepared for the GHMC elections, KTR exuded confidence that all ‘settlers’ in the metropolitan city will vote in favour of the ruling party.

The minister added that they would release a special manifesto for the GHMC after obtaining permission from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. A special campaign titled ‘Get Out-Lets Vote’ will be conducted, he said, adding that there were plans to rope in cinema stars, sportsmen and other prominent people to increase polling percentage and raising awareness among voters.

Reacting to the Election Commission’s decision to serve notices on Chief Minister and himself, KTR said it was common to have doubts on the electoral code of conduct and that he will clarify on the issue soon.
