MLC K Kavitha on Thursday made an appeal to both parents and young girls not to let any political vendetta deter their dreams.

Kavitha registered her protest against the “hijab row” through a poem. She took to social media platforms and shared the poem “Hum Sab Hindustani” written by her.

In her poem, she spoke strongly about how despite actions of divisive forces, “We are all one – we are Indians.” She further tweeted, “If wearing sindoor is my right, muskan’s hijab is her right. Let women decide what they are comfortable in embracing and wearing. #Don’t Teach Us.”

Kavitha later added: “Let’s keep politics out of schools and colleges. I’m a married woman, I put vermilion whenever I want, its a choice. As a society, we’ve no right to interfere in their personal choice. In a country like India which is a melting pot and amalgamation of religious beliefs, it’s important that we become tolerant.”
