Tribals alleged that they were being threatened and harassed by certain persons, a lawyer and a policeman.
They staged a sit-in in front of the office of Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan before submitting a representation to him here on Tuesday.
The tribals, living in Kumram Bheem colony in Bhattisavargaon village, accused one Kallem Bhumareddy, Tippa Narayana, Suresh Agarwal, lawyer David and policeman Mallesh of threatening and harassing them for occupying the place. They claimed that they had been residing in the colony by erecting huts since
2007.
They regretted that the five persons were trying to snatch the land by colluding with revenue officials and by preventing creation of basic amenities.
They recalled that the government in the past agreed to provide the amenities, considering their plight and weak financial background. They charged that the five were threatening them.
The tribals further alleged that the five were attempting to grab government lands situated around the district headquarters by submitting forged documents of ownership and citing court orders with taking assistance of the revenue officials.
