Travel passes to IT, pharma employees

Thu 26 Mar 2020, 11:14:27
Many IT and pharmaceutical companies have given work from home to majority of their employees, there are some staff termed as critical support staff and need to come to the office to carry out their duties. And in order to smoothen the travelling process of these critical support staff, the Telangana government has issued travel passes.

Critical support staff for IT includes employees who work on data-specific projects for healthcare, banking, insurance clients or workers working in highly secure work premises or employees who are termed as support staff that work in the security, facilities and housekeeping wings of the company.

Similarly, for pharmaceutical industry, critical staff could be employees working in the research and development labs of the pharma company and also could include employees that deal with drug data that needs them to

work in a controlled atmosphere.

“The police department has decided to issue passes to such employees so as to ease their travel during the lockdown,” said Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, IT and Industries Department. These passes are issued on submission of valid ID proof and letter from the organisation.

“We have appealed to the Cyberabad, Hyderabad and Rachakonda police officials to issue passes to vehicles — which could be cabs and/or private vehicles — to critical support staff. These employees could be working in areas which require their physical presence in the office or they could be working on projects that are data sensitive and cannot be taken home as per the client requirements,” said Krishna Yedula, general secretary, Society for Cyberabad Security Council.
