Driving on the road stretch between Petlaburj city police headquarters and Dargah Hazrat Muhammad Abdul Qadeer Siddiqui Quadri, Bahadurpura, on the National Highway 44 in the city is proving to be a difficult task for the motorists.
The frequent slowdown of traffic movement is causing hardship for the travellers and consuming their travel time during peak hours. “It takes around 10 minutes to cover the distance between police headquarters and Dargah Hazrat Muhammad Abdul Qadeer Siddiqui Quadri during peak hours. During normal times, it is just a three-minute commute,” complains Mohd
Rahmath Ali, a resident of Bahadurpura.
Despite the presence of traffic police at the stretch, the road conditions are not in favour of commuters. The roadside near Puranapul crematorium is badly damaged and the pavement is encroached, reducing the road width. Near the bus stop, the manhole covers are broken, further compounding the woes of the motorists.
“The buses also stop for a minute or two on the busy road to pick up passengers. It is also affecting the free flow of traffic on the busy road during the evening,” pointed out Shiva Krishna, a resident of Shivarampally.
