TPCC to hold 10-day agitation from Feb 19

Tue 14 Feb 2017, 12:05:10
The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) will launch a 10-day long agitation ‘Jana Avedana Sammelanam’ against the anti-people policies of the TRS Government in the State and BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.
TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who chaired the extended executive meeting of the party at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, said various agitational programmes would be held across the State from February 19 to 28. According to the AICC directive, the ‘Jana Avedana Sammelanam’ would be organised in all the 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana.
A massive public meeting will be held in Nizamabad on January 19. Similar meetings will be held in old 10 districts of Telangana, covering about 10 Assembly segments. Besides exposing the failures of Central and State governments, local issues will also be highlighted.
The TPCC chief said both State and Central governments had failed to resolve the problems being faced by the people. All sections of society were badly hit due to

demonitisation and there was no respite even after three months. The Modi government has also failed to fulfil the promises made to the people. As against the promise of giving 2 crore new jobs, the Central government gave jobs to only 77,000 people. The Prime Minister was misleading the country with catchy slogans like Make in India, Skill India, Start Up India and Digital India. “The real development process has come to a halt since the BJP-led government took over at the Centre,” Reddy said.
He said the situation in Telangana was no better with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao neglecting the development and people’s welfare. The TRS government had failed to put pressure on the Centre on fulfilling the promises made to Telangana at the time of bifurcation according to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. He said the Centre did not give Integrated Wagon Factory at Khazipet or the required funds for the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR), which were approved by the previous UPA regime.
