For the Indian Premier League-XII (IPL) cricket matches scheduled to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal starting from Friday, the Rachakonda Police have made elaborate arrangements with a total of 2,300 police personnel.

Seven matches will be played at the venue which has a seating capacity of about 38,000. Personnel to be deployed for security include those from various security wings, 225 from traffic, those from law and order, six platoons of Armed Forces, two teams of OCTOPUS, Special Branch, Central Crime Station and Mounted Police.

Speaking about the arrangements at the stadium on Thursday, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said around 300 surveillance cameras were being installed in and outside the stadium including check-points and parking areas for effective bandobast and to prevent any untoward incident.

“A Joint Command and Control Room is also established to monitor the surveillance camera footage which will be supervised by an Inspector and team,” he said. The Commissioner said anti-sabotage teams would be on the ground until the match was over and an effective communication system would be maintained with Very High Frequency sets to the police personnel for quick response.

Scanners have been installed at the stadium for easy detection of explosives and other prohibited material inside the venue. Special teams were deployed to check tickets sold in black market. SHE teams and Vendor Supervising Teams too would be on the job.

“The bomb disposal

team and sniffer dogs are being used to ensure safety in the stadium and the parking places round the clock. Checkposts are being set up at all entry points to carry out anti-sabotage checks and frisking of persons,” Bhagwat said, adding that special teams would be deployed at each gate for checking of mobile phones of the spectators.

An escort vehicle of law and order along with escort vehicles of City Security Wing would be present, apart from a Road Clearance Party, specifically for route clearance and congestion free entry and exit of players and other VIPs/VVIPs into the stadium. There would also be separate teams to check movement of anti-social elements.

Car pass holders of outer Gate-1 and 2 should come from Ramanthapur side and park their vehicles in parking A and B inside the stadium. If parking A and B areas are full, they should go towards Gate-11 and park their vehicles in a private land. Two wheelers coming via Gate 1 and 2 should be parked in parking-B at NSL parking place.

The differently-abled are suggested to enter from Ramanthapur road and enter from outer Gate-3, after parking their vehicles at parking-B.

Those at Gate Nos-4 to 10 should enter the stadium from Habsiguda-Uppal main road and park their vehicles at Genpact parking or Ramanthapur Church ground or Sakthi Soaps area.
