Tiger movement sparks panic among villagers in Mancherial

The reported movement of a tiger in nearby areas sparked panic among villagers at Thalamala village in Luxettipet mandal over the past few days.

Locals said they were afraid of taking up farming activities after a tiger was spotted on the outskirts of the village on Thursday and Friday.

Shepherds who ventured into forest areas were the most worried.



They requested forest officials to divert the animal into dense forests and take steps to prevent human casualties.

Forest officials said pugmarks of a tiger were recorded and advised farmers to remain cautious. They said a tiger was moving between Thalamala and Peddampet forests. A female tiger that had been in Maharashtra reportedly moved into Mancherial forests, they added.
