A wandering tiger on Monday night killed a calf at Basantpur village in Rajapet mandal of Yadadri Bhongir district.

A farmer, K Ramesh, had left the cattle in a shed near a well in his village at night. In the morning, when he went to milk the cows, he found a calf missing.

The tiger had attacked and

dragged the calf some distance away from his field. After partially feeding on the calf, it left the carcass there.

“Apparently, the tiger was disturbed due to the movement of villagers and ran away. It may return later to feed on the remaining carcass. Camera traps will be installed and a cage will be set up here,” said a forest official.
