A transgender person who had allegedly self-immolated during a protest at Borabanda on Monday last week has succumbed while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital on Tuesday morning. With this, the toll in the suicide case rose to three.
The transgender person identified as Navneetha (24), a resident of Borabanda, along with a group of transgender persons, held a protest at Borabanda bus stand demanding
action against Monalisa, a transgender person who is a leader of another group.
During the protest, a group of transgender people had doused themselves with petrol and set themselves ablaze. Eight of them had suffered burns and were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment.
Earlier, two transgender persons, Afsana and Heena, who were admitted to the hospital, died on November 20 and 23.
