In a significant policy shift, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has withdrawn the incentive increment previously granted to employees opting for family planning procedures.
The decision was formalised through a circular issued on March 17, following approval by the corporation’s board. With this move, TGSRTC has aligned its policy with long-standing State government guidelines that had discontinued such financial incentives years ago.
The scheme, introduced in the early
2000s, allowed employees or their spouses who underwent sterilisation after having two or fewer children to receive an additional increment in the form of personal pay.
While the State government had withdrawn similar benefits for its employees with retrospective effect from July 1998, the transport corporation continued the practice even after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Officials said the latest decision was aimed at standardising policies and removing inconsistencies with government norms.
