The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has made elaborate arrangements alongside operating 7,000 special buses for passengers heading to their hometowns across the State for Dasara festival.
TGSRTC has also revised fares for special buses by up to 1.5 times the regular fare, as permitted under a 2003 government order. The revised fares will apply only to special services operating on October 9, 10, 16, 17, 25 and 26, including services to other states. Regular buses will continue to charge normal fares.
Of the special buses, 3,533 buses will be operated from the Karimnagar zone, 431 from Adilabad, 719 from Nizamabad, 1,175 from Karimnagar, 530 from Warangal and 678 from Khammam. The Hyderabad zone will operate 2,155 special buses, including 645 from Mahabubnagar, 255 from Medak, 815 from Nalgonda and 440 from Ranga Reddy.
Another 1,312 special services will be operated in the Greater Hyderabad
zone.
The corporation expects heavy passenger rush on October 9, 10, 16 and 17, and has planned additional services accordingly. Arrangements have also been made for the return rush on October 25 and 26.
In Hyderabad, special buses will operate from major points including MGBS, JBS, Uppal, Aramghar, LB Nagar Crossroads, KPHB, Bowenpally and Gachibowli. Passenger amenities such as pandals, shamianas, chairs, public address systems, drinking water and mobile toilets will be provided at key locations.
TGSRTC Managing Director Y Nagi Reddy said women will continue to enjoy free travel under the Mahalakshmi scheme on eligible Palle Velugu, Express, City Ordinary and Metro Express regular and special services.
