TGSRTC strike boosts auto demand in Hyderabad The ongoing TGSRTC strike seems to have reshaped daily commuting in the city, with auto-rickshaws now becoming the primary mode of transport for many stranded passengers.
With RTC buses remaining off the roads and fewer services being operated by the management, commuters are left with limited options, the foremost being autos. This has also pushed demand for autos across key routes in
the city.
For auto drivers, the sudden spike in passengers count seems to have come as a sense of satisfaction.
For the past two years, auto drivers had been complaining, blaming and protesting of reduced incomes, due to the government’s ‘Mahalakshmi’ free travel scheme for women introduced by the State government. Now, the strike has temporarily reversed that trend, offering them better daily returns.
