With the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) recently increasing city bus fares in Hyderabad, concerns have surfaced over a possible hike in ticket prices for district services across the State, burdening the rural population.

TGSRTC officials, however, have clarified that there are no immediate plans to revise fares for district routes. The corporation

stated that the Hyderabad fare revision was a “need of the hour” measure to strengthen city transport infrastructure, particularly the expansion of the electric vehicle (EV) fleet.

“There are no proposals before the State Government to increase district bus fares. The fares were already revised earlier, considering toll and cess increases,” a senior TGSRTC official said.
