The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has issued 191 crore ‘zero tickets’ under the ‘Mahalakshmi’ free travel for women scheme, Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said.

The Minister, who inspected the Musheerabad bus depot with RTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar on Monday, said that RTC staff were providing faster services with the Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS) being implemented in the Hyderabad region.

The Minister inspected the implementation of ITMS and digital payments as part of AFCS. The conductors explained to him how easy this system

is at the field level.

“RTC has been implementing AFCS in its buses for the last three months. On average, 20 per cent of passengers use this facility every day. RTC will soon make this system available in all buses,” Prabhakar said.

On the occasion, Sajjanar said ‘QR code’ ticketing is currently available as part of AFCS, and that WhatsApp ticketing and digital bus pass facilities will be implemented soon.

He said tickets can be easily obtained by registering travel details on WhatsApp and that steps were being taken to obtain digital bus passes on the RTC app.
