The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has refuted claims of a general fare hike during the recent Raksha Bandhan.

Clarifying that the revised fares applied only to 4,650 special buses operated between August 7 and 11 to handle festive rush, the RTC in a statement on Tuesday said regular service fares remained

unchanged.

Further, citing a 2003 government order, TGSRTC stated that fare adjustments for special buses during festivals have been standard practice for 22 years to cover fuel and operational costs.

The corporation condemned the spread of false information, calling it an attempt to tarnish its reputation.
