The TGSRTC has announced fresh fare reduction on its premium bus services between Hyderabad and Vijayawada, its second cut this year. There is a 30 per cent discount on Garuda Plus and E Garuda services, and 20 per cent off on Super Luxury and Lahari (non AC) services. Officials said the move was in response to aggressive pricing by private operators and competing state carrier APSRTC on the high demand corridor.
In February, the TGRTC offered a 10 per cent discount on Lahari (non AC) sleeper cum seater and Super Luxury services, and an 8 per cent
discount on Rajdhani AC buses on this route. Hyderabad-Vijayawada is among the busiest intercity routes from Telangana’s capital. About 120 buses depart daily from Hyderabad to Vijayawada, with services running around the clock at 10-30 minute intervals. J. Sree Latha, regional manager, Rangareddy, said: “We prioritise safety and service standards. We have reduced prices in line with market competition.” She added that on this route, especially from LB Nagar, buses to Vijayawada are available roughly every 10 minutes.
