The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC), headed by Justice Shameem Akther has recommended strict enforcement of the prescribed guidelines for admissions to Category-B (Management/NRI) seats in Engineering Colleges, ensuring transparency, fairness and equal opportunity to eligible students.

The Commission passed the order based on a complaint filed by Paladugu Srinivas, J.A.C., Osmania University, in 2021 alleging irregularities in the Category-B admission process for the academic year 2021–2022 in St. Martin’s Engineering College, Dhulapally, and Vardhaman College of Engineering, Shamshabad.

The

Commission observed that the allegations were serious and that, if true, there would be a discrepancy between the notified admission procedure and its actual implementation, potentially affecting the legitimate educational opportunities of eligible and meritorious students.

Accordingly, exercising powers under Section 18 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, the Commission recommended that TSCHE strictly enforce the guidelines for Category-B admissions, ensure that no arbitrary or unauthorized procedure is adopted, and safeguard transparency, fairness and equal opportunity for all eligible candidates and closed the case.
