Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) took note of the death of a pregnant woman and her newborn child allegedly due to absence of a doctor at the Government Hospital at Gundala in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

According to TGHRC, Datla Vanaja (20), a resident of Shambhunigudem village was taken to the Government Hospital in Gundala with labour pains. It was alleged that the duty doctor was not



available at the hospital at the relevant time and that a nurse conducted the delivery.

The Commission deems it appropriate to take suo-motu cognizance of the matter. Accordingly, a report is called for from the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO), Bhadradri Kothagudem district for hearing on July 13 at 11 am indicating the facts and circumstances of the incident and action taken.
