The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) on Tuesday directed all colleges to mandatorily implement sports, yoga, meditation and practical classes regularly, and integrate them into their official timetable, with at least one class per week.

The TGBIE on Tuesday convened a key meeting with managements of private and corporate junior colleges across the State to bring reforms in intermediate education aimed at reducing stress among students.

Recognising the two-year intermediate course as a crucial phase in shaping students’ academic and personal futures, TG BIE Secretary S

Krishna Aditya emphasised that sports, meditation and practical learning were essential components for students’ overall development.

To ensure strict compliance, the Secretary himself will visit select private and corporate colleges in the coming days to monitor the implementation of these directives. He also instructed that all laboratory facilities be brought under CCTV surveillance to maintain discipline and ensure safe and effective practical sessions.

During the meeting, he also emphasised the role of counselling services in preventing student suicides and promoting psychological well-being.
