TG SAFE – Drugs Wing conducted a raid at a medical shop in Tellapur Village, Ramchandrapuram mandal, detected the illegal stocking and sale of the habit-forming drug Pyeevon Spas Plus Capsules containing Tramadol, and seized 6,368 capsules.Based on credible information, officials of the Drugs Wing, TG SAFE, conducted a raid at Sri Ganesh Medical and General Stores. During the raid, the officials detected the indiscriminate sale of Pyeevon Spas Plus Capsules containing Tramadol.

It was found that the said capsules were being stocked illegally without purchase bills and were being sold without issuance of sale bills, thereby contravening the provisions of the Drugs Rules, 1945. Tramadol is an opioid analgesic and a prescription medicine used for the management of moderate to severe pain. It is a habit-forming drug and is classified as a Schedule H1 drug. It should be sold only



against a valid prescription issued by a registered medical practitioner. Illegal diversion and misuse of such medicines can lead to dependence and serious health consequences. During the course of the raid, the officials seized 6,368 capsules worth Rs 58,904.

The raid was conducted by Assistant Director P Ramu, Drugs Inspectors M Chandrasekhar, and N Ravikiran Reddy. Further investigation will be carried out and action will be taken as per the law against all the offenders. The TG-SAFE – Drugs Wing reiterates that Schedule H1 and other prescription medicines will not be sold without a valid prescription, and any illegal diversion, indiscriminate sale or misuse of habit-forming medicines will be dealt with strictly in accordance with law. Illegal diversion of habit-forming drugs by medical shops is punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, with imprisonment for up to two years.
