Mercury is expected to drop further from Wednesday across Hyderabad and other regions of Telangana, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad and independent weather trackers forecasting severe cold wave conditions for the coming week.
On Wednesday, IMD-Hyderabad extended its cold wave warning for multiple districts of Telangana for two more days.
The IMD-Hyderabad forecast indicates minimum temperatures are expected to drop 3 degrees Celsius to 4 degrees Celsius below normal in several regions, including Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy.
The severe cold wave alert issued by IMD-Hyderabad is valid till Friday, December 12, 2025. Minimum temperatures in Hyderabad and surrounding districts including Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Medak and Bhongir are expected to hover between 11 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, independent weather trackers from Hyderabad in their forecast
said the cold wave conditions will be even more severe from Wednesday night across Telangana.
While parts of Hyderabad and surrounding districts are expected to record minimum temperatures around 8 degrees Celsius, temperatures in Western and Northern districts of the State could drop to as low as 5 degrees Celsius, according to independent weather trackers. The ongoing severe cold wave conditions are expected to last for the next 4 to 5 days, they added.
In the last 24 hours, between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, multiple locations in and around Hyderabad, in addition to districts, recorded single digit minimum temperatures.
The coldest temperatures (in degree Celsius) recorded on the outskirts were in Moinabad (6.6), Ibrahimpatnam (7.7), UoH Serilingampally (8.4) Rajendranagar (9.2), Moula Ali (9.4), including BHEL (10.5), Gachibowli (11.4) and Qutbullapur (11.9). Minimum temperatures in the remaining parts of the city hovered between 12 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius.
