Telangana victims of Saudi bus fire laid to rest in Madinah’s Jannatul Baqi

All the 46 victims, 45 of them hailing from Telangana, who lost their lives in the tragic bus fire accident near Madinah in Saudi Arabia, were identified through DNA profiling, and their bodies were handed over to their families, who in turn completed the last rites in the holy city of Madinah on Saturday.

As the victims were burnt beyond recognition, Saudi authorities established their identities through DNA tests. There were widespread speculations about the bodies being handed over and the burial being conducted on Friday following the Jumu’ah prayer. However, it was completed on Saturday afternoon.

All the burials



took place in the Al Baqi cemetery, commonly known as Jannatul Baqi, the largest cemetery in Madinah next to Masjid-e-Nabawi and where many members of Prophet Mohammed’s family and his companions, apart from Islamic leaders, were buried. A large majority of visitors wish to be buried in Jannatul Baqi when they die during the Madinah visit.

Shaikh Abdul Nazir, Governor of Andhra Pradesh and leader of the high-level delegation deputed by Government of India, Telangana Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin, Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Indian Ambassador, Fahad Khan Suri, Consul General and Majid Hussain, MLA Nampally were present during the burial.
