The elections to the Telangana State Bar Council were conducted peacefully across the state on Friday, with no major incidents reported at polling centres.

Some candidates, however, alleged the presence of bogus voters at the Ranga Reddy District Court premises. According to Bar Council officials, around 75 per cent of registered advocates cast their votes, reflecting strong participation in the electoral process.

A total of 203 candidates

contested, resulting in an unusually large ballot paper, comparable in size to a poster.

The voting process took longer than usual due to the preferential voting system, which required voters to mark preferences for at least five candidates, with the option to select up to 23 members.

This contributed to delays at several polling booths. Bar Council staff said that despite the time‑consuming process, voting proceeded smoothly throughout the day.
