Telangana State Assembly yesterday passed a resolution seeking the Central Government to withdraw the proposed New Electricity Amendment Bill.

The resolution was moved by Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao in the Assembly while intervening in the Short Duration discussion yesterday over the Telangana Power Sector achievements, the New Electricity Amendment Bill by the Centre and fire mishap in Srisailam Hydro Power



Plant.

Replying to points raised by several members, the Chief Minister said the proposed new electricity amendment Bill will harm the interests of states and it is against the spirit of the Federal system. He alleged that the new bill will help the private sector and the enactment will harm the interests of farmers. The lower house of the Telangana Legislature has passed the resolution seeking the Centre to immediately withdraw the same.
