The state government has started registrations for the Vayo Vandana scheme, a Central government scheme for enrolment of elderly citizens above the age of 70 for an insurance cover of Rs.5 lakh provided by the Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY) scheme, irrespective of their income. The National Health Authority has also opened the portal for the registration of the scheme.
As per NHA, there are 18,02,995 senior
citizens above the age of 70 years in Telangana, all eligible under this scheme. The current enrolment is 22,225 elderly citizens. The beneficiaries are eligible for cashless treatments at all empanelled hospitals under AB PMJAY and Rajiv Aarogyasri including both government and private hospitals. As per the department, awareness activities are on to encourage citizens to opt for the scheme.
