More than 73.57 lakh electors in Telangana face the risk of losing their voting rights as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls enters its final phase.

In addition, the status of 14,00,835 voters remained under scrutiny as of Tuesday. If they fail to respond to SIR notices by November 5, their names could be excluded from the final electoral roll.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharsan Reddy had said that electors who failed to respond to the notices would be categorised as Absent, Shifted, Dead or Duplicate (ASDD) and removed from the final list.

Before the SIR exercise began, Telangana had 3,38,26,448 electors. Of these, 2,64,87,213

submitted enumeration forms, while 73,39,235 were categorised under ASDD.

Notices were generated for 12,53,876 electors over discrepancies in their forms or the absence of a mapping to the 2002 electoral roll. Of these, 12,41,369 notices had been served. As many as 10,03,221 cases had been cleared, taking the number of electors marked for inclusion in the final list to 25,44,524 as of Tuesday.

During the hearing stage, 18,131 voters were found ineligible and are set to be excluded from the final electoral roll.

Under the revised schedule, the process of issuing notices and disposing of claims and objections will conclude on November 5. The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on November 9.
