The School Education department on Saturday issued orders establishing pre-primary sections in 790 government and local body schools across the State.
While pre-primary sections had already been established in 210 government-run schools, they have now been added to 790 schools, taking the total to 1,000.
Along with an approval
of Rs 33 crore, the department released guidelines related to the operations of the pre-primary sections.
Starting next academic year, children who are set to join Class I will be enrolled in these pre-primary sections, which will be operated within existing government school premises. One classroom in each school will be designated for pre-primary use.
