The Telangana government has sent electricity restoration teams comprising personnel from SPDCL to Andhra Pradesh following a request from the neighbouring state. The teams left on Thursday to help restore power supply in cyclone-affected areas. The teams will repair damaged electricity poles and power lines. Preliminary estimates indicate that more than 16,000 electricity poles have been uprooted, leaving hundreds of villages without power.

On Thursday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi spoke to Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Bhatti Vikramarka over the phone. They sought assistance to restore electricity supply in cyclone-hit areas. Naidu briefed Bhatti Vikramarka on the situation in the affected districts of

Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Eluru, NTR, Guntur, Parvathipuram Manyam and Alluri Sitharama Raju. He said the cyclone had caused extensive crop damage and severely disrupted the power infrastructure. Naidu said additional electricity personnel, equipment and machinery were needed to restore power supply in the affected areas.

After consulting Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka agreed to extend the requested assistance. He directed officials to make the necessary arrangements and take relief measures to restore electricity supply to the public at the earliest. Telangana’s assistance is expected to speed up power restoration in cyclone-hit areas of Andhra Pradesh and help affected communities return to normal life as soon as possible.
