Telangana Municipal Chairpersons, Mayors election on Jan 27

The election for Municipal Chairpersons, vice chairpersons and Mayors and Deputy Mayors of Corporations will be held on Monday (January 27). A notification to this effect was released by the Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC) on Thursday.

The notice calling for a special meeting to be convened as per the rules for conduct of election to the offices of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson of Municipality and Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Municipal corporation will be issued on or before January Saturday.

The oath to the directly elected ward members of municipality and municipal corporations will be administered at 11 am on Monday i.e. January



27.

The special meeting for the election of Chairperson, vice chairperson of the municipality and Mayor and Deputy mayor of Municipal corporation will be held on the same day at 12.30 pm.

The TSEC made it clear that unless the elections for Chairperson and Mayors are completed, the election for vice chairman or deputy mayor election cannot be held.

“If for any reason the election to the said office is not held on January 27, it shall be held on the next day, whether or not it is observed as a holiday by the municipality or corporation as per the rule of conduct of election rules 2020,” the TSEC said.
