In Telangana, Central Agriculture Research Institutions and State Agriculture Universities launched -Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan- at Jammikunta in Karimnagar district yesterday. ICAR-National Academy of Agriculture Research Management (NAARM), Deputy Director General Dr RC Agarwal, ICAR -Agriculture Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Director Dr Sheik N Meera and Telangana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission, Chairman Kodanda Reddy and experts from State Agriculture Universities took part in the state wide launch of the Abhiyan. The Abhiyan aimed at bridging the gap between agricultural research and the farming

community by delivering knowledge directly to farmers at the ground level.

Over two hundred teams of experts and scientists will directly interact with about 12 lakh farmers in Telangana during the 15-day campaign, as part of the nationwide Abhiyan during the pre-Kharif season. These experts will conduct awareness programmes focused on crop varieties, improved technologies, seed availability and welfare schemes from both the Central and State governments. Farmers will have an opportunity to seek clarifications and learn about how to avail the benefits of various schemes.
