Telangana Jagruthi, led by its president and MLC K Kavitha, will hold a Maha Dharna near Indira Park on Wednesday from 10 am to 1 pm, protesting against the Congress government’s notices to BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao over the Kaleshwaram project.
Terming the notices a political conspiracy, Kavitha said the protest would highlight how Chandrashekhar Rao transformed Telangana’s agricultural landscape by diverting Godavari river waters and turning barren lands fertile. She accused the Congress of
targeting the former Chief Minister in an attempt to divert public attention from its governance failures.
Thousands of Telangana Jagruthi members and supporters of Chandrashekhar Rao from across the State are expected to take part in the protest. The demonstration will also focus on the reasons behind scrapping of the Pranahita-Chevella project, the benefits achieved by redesigning it into Kaleshwaram project, and the alleged annual losses to farmers during Yasangi due to the Congress government’s delay in undertaking necessary repairs.
