People in Telangana will continue to endure a severe heatwave cycle that is expected to push maximum temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius, especially in northern and eastern districts, along with sporadic but intense thunderstorm activity till the end of the month.
On Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad issued a red alert for an intense heatwave, with temperatures expected to rise above 44 degrees Celsius in northern and eastern districts, including Peddapalli,
Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam, till Wednesday.
Overall, the IMD, Hyderabad indicated that there would not be much change in the maximum temperatures over the next three days, after which temperatures are expected to gradually drop by 2 to 3 degrees during the subsequent four days.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperatures on Monday, based on data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TSDPS), continued to remain just below 47 degrees Celsius.
