A Division Bench of the Telangana High Court refused to stay an order directing an inquiry into allegations of forged signatures on a Vakalatnama filed in a writ petition alleging unauthorized constructions at "Elite Residency" in Pragathi Nagar in the city.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin, dismissed a writ appeal filed by Rayapudi Siva Kumari and 9 others, where the petitioners had contended that an additional two-floor penthouse was constructed illegally at a

residential complex originally sanctioned as a ground-plus-three floors.

During proceedings, one of the penthouse buyers alleged that several signatures on the Vakalatnama filed by the petitioners were forged. The panel noted that one co-petitioner disowned her signature, and communications from another petitioner supported the forgery allegation.

The bench observed that the appellants failed to provide clear authorization or deny the genuineness of the signatures, making their response evasive.
