Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to take appropriate action on an application filed by actor Chiranjeevi for regularisation of constructions at his residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.
The writ petition was filed by Chiranjeevi challenging the inaction of GHMC officials in processing his application dated June 5, 2025, submitted under Section 455-AA of the GHMC Act, seeking regularisation of certain structures, including a retaining wall, constructed in his residence in Jubilee Hills.
Appearing for the petitioner, counsel Apoorva Reddy submitted that the original construction comprising a ground plus two-floor residence was sanctioned by the GHMC in
2002. During renovations undertaken later, Chiranjeevi obtained further permissions, including one for construction of a retaining wall in 2017.
Despite compliance and submission of a fresh application in June 2025 for regularisation, no action was initiated by GHMC, prompting the petitioner to approach the High Court. On the other hand, GHMC’s standing counsel informed the Court that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with law.
Taking note of the submissions, Justice Vijaysen Reddy disposed of the writ petition with a direction to the GHMC Commissioner to consider the application and pass a reasoned order after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, within four weeks from the date of receipt of the order.
