Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Water, and Women & Child Welfare, Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), on Monday, May 26, 2025, announced that members of the transgender community will be allotted Indiramma housing under the disability quota.
She also said that Maitri Clinics will be established in districts to provide healthcare services tailored to their needs. The announcements were made during a review meeting at the Secretariat in Hyderabad, attended by senior government officials, transgender NGO representatives, and transgender
individuals appointed as Traffic Assistants under a pilot project launched in December 2024.
Telangana had appointed 44 transgender persons as Traffic Assistants in Hyderabad, becoming the first state to employ them in such roles in government. Of these, 38 are currently serving in the Hyderabad City Police Traffic Department.
