The Telangana government on Tuesday issued orders to facilitate the implementation of the ‘Chief Minister’s Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Minorities’. Under this scheme students hailing from minority background can pursue higher education-post-graduate or doctoral courses-in foreign universities, for the year 2015-16.
According to the GO, this scheme is aimed at benefiting poor and meritorious students from the

minority community. The government, after careful examination, has increased the grant amount from the existing Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh under the new scheme.
The fee amount would be payable in two installments -the first installment of Rs 10 lakh will be given upon producing the immigration card. The second installment would be given when the students produce the results they achieved in their first semester.
