The State government has allotted 3.95 acres of land at Khanapur to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) for the development of infrastructure required to meet the growing drinking water needs in the Kokapet-Neopolis area.
In view of the rapid population growth in the city, especially in areas surrounding Outer Ring Road, the need for
drinking water is increasing exponentially day by day. In view of the future needs, the State government has undertaken the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project – Phase-II & III.
This project has been undertaken to transfer an additional 300 MGD of water to fill the Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs with Godavari water for the rejuvenation of the Musi River.
