Irrigation Minister, T. Harish Rao has said that Telangana government is committed to the welfare of the Muslims . Greeting the Muslims on the eve of holy Ramadan at Iqbal Minar located near Sufi Dargha in Siddipet town here on Monday, the Minister has said that Telangana Rastra Samithi’s (TRS) government has initiated several measures for the benefit of Muslims within a short span of time after State was formed.

Stating that Telangana government has started 200 Minority Residential Schools with a sole motive to provide top class education to poor Muslims, Rao has said they have distributed groceries and clothes to over 4 lakh poor Muslims on the eve of Ramadan.He has further they were also offering Rs 20 lakh scholarship to the children of poor Muslims who were



going for overseas education since Chief Minister, K.Chandrasekhar Rao was very particular on the development of Muslims. 

He has further said Telangana is the only State in the country to identify Ramadan as the State festival. Keeping up their electoral promise of providing 12 per cent reservations, the Minister has said that they had passed the bill in State Assembly and sent for centre’s nod. Ramadan was celebrated in a grand way across Sididpet district. A huge number of Muslims have gathered at Mosques and Idgas to participate in special prayers.

They were seen exchanging the greetings all over the town. As a fine example of communal harmony, Hindus were seen wishing Muslims living in the neighbourhood and colleagues.
