The State government’s failure to fulfil its promises has left government employees and pensioners restless. They are now preparing to stage protests in support of their demands. If the government fails to address their demands, employees plan to stage protests across the State on August 27. A Mahadharna is also proposed in Hyderabad on September 10.

Despite Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s instructions for the effective implementation of the Employees Health Scheme (EHS), employees said many were still facing hardships.

The Telangana Employees, Gazetted Officers, Teachers, Workers and Pensioners Joint Action Committee (TGEJAC) said the problem was mainly due

to a lack of coordination between the Finance and Health departments. As a result, employees, their family members and pensioners were unable to get treatment.

The second PRC’s term is set to expire on September 30. If the government continues to extend it further, the TGEJAC will decide its future course of action,” the members said. The employees also demanded that the six pending Dearness Allowance dues be released immediately in a single instalment. They urged the State government to continue releasing Rs 2,000 crore towards clearing pending employee bills.

The employees are also pressing for other demands, including implementation of the Old Pension System.
