Telangana braces for scorching heat as mercury levels set to soar: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad has cautioned that Telangana is heading for a period of intense heatwave conditions. Maximum temperatures across the State are projected to rise by 2 degrees Celsius to 4 degrees Celsius over the next four days as dry weather settles in.

While parts of the State may see immediate relief through isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) on Wednesday, especially in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy, the overall trend for the week is one of intensifying heat.

According to the IMD?s five-day district-wise outlook, northern and western districts including Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagitial and Komaram Bheem are



expected to remain in the orange zone, with temperatures consistently hovering between 41 degrees Celsius and 44 degrees Celsius.

The capital region, including Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad and Bhongir, will see a sharp transition from the current 36 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius range to 41 degrees Celsius to 44 degrees Celsius by Friday and Saturday. From Wednesday to Saturday, dry weather is very likely to prevail across the entire State.

The IMD, Hyderabad weather report highlighted that conditions are becoming favourable for the onset of the southwest monsoon over the south Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands towards the end of this week.
