The Telangana State Legislature is gearing up for a high-decibel political showdown with the winter session set to commence at 10.30 am on Monday. BRS president and Leader of Opposition K Chandrashekhar Rao is expected to attend the Assembly on the opening day.

The opening day will include tributes to former legislators who have passed away since the last session. After the Question Hour, the election of the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly is likely to be held. While the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) is scheduled to meet in the afternoon and finalise the schedule for the rest of session, sources confirmed that the House would not be convened for three days between December 30 and January 1. It would resume on January 2 and is likely to hold discussions on Krishna and Godavari River waters.

BRS sources said Chandrashekhar Rao has drawn up a clear action plan to mount a sustained offensive against the Congress government, particularly on irrigation, river water sharing, stalled projects and unfulfilled promises. Party working president KT Rama Rao and senior leader T Harish Rao are expected to spearhead the attack,

especially during discussions on irrigation. Former Ministers P Sabitha Indra Reddy and G Jagadish Reddy are also likely to take part, with a second line of leaders including Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Gangula Kamalakar, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and others, backing them up.

Younger MLAs, including KP Vivekanand, Padi Kaushik Reddy and Dr K Sanjay, have been tasked with countering disruptions from the treasury benches. All BRS legislators have been instructed to come fully prepared on issues ranging from Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation and river water allocations to delays in Rythu Bharosa, fertiliser shortages, fee reimbursement, pensions and the failure to implement 42 per cent BC reservations.

Meanwhile, the ruling Congress has announced that the House will discuss irrigation projects in undivided Andhra Pradesh, works executed during the BRS regime, post-bifurcation expenditures and initiatives taken over the past two years. Amid reports that Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy will make a presentation on irrigation in the House, the BRS is preparing to demand an equal opportunity to present its own presentation.
