Tension prevailed at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s residence in Kodangal on Monday after Anganwadi teachers staged a protest demanding that the Congress government withdraw plans to establish pre-primary schools and guarantee their job security.
Over 300 Anganwadi teachers from the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district arrived in Kodangal, with more than 50 marching towards the Chief
Minister’s residence. Raising slogans, the teachers demanded that the government abandon its proposal for pre-primary schools and fulfil its 2023 Assembly election promise of increasing their salaries.
Anticipating trouble, the police deployed heavy security in the village. When some teachers tried to move closer to the Chief Minister’s residence, the police took them into custody, according to reports.
