Demolition of the iconic Taj Banjara Hotel in Banjara Hills is under way, marking the end of one of Hyderabad’s best-known hospitality landmarks as the lakeside property makes way for a major real estate redevelopment.
Work began towards the end of April and has now entered the structural demolition stage, with the hotel’s outer walls being dismantled, making the transformation visible from outside.
A contractor
associated with the demolition told media that the process began by clearing the building from within. “We first removed the doors, windows, electrical wiring, wooden fittings, iron fixtures and other reusable materials.
Only after emptying the building did we begin demolishing the walls and the main structure,” he said. The demolition is expected to take another four months, after which excavation for the new project will begin.
