T govt extends disaster scheme till Nov 1

The families of those who die in riots, cyclones, earthquakes or due to collapse of buildings and bridges can now avail of the ex gratia under the Apathbandhu scheme up to November. The state goevrnment has extended till November 1 the scheme, under which Below Poverty Line (BPL) families get ex gratia of 50,000 in case of death of a member due to a natural or manmade disasters.

Officials of the disaster



management department said that district collectors will verify the proposals received from the RDOMRO with reference to the norms and guidelines of the Apathbandhu scheme and release the amount to the family members of the deceased, preferably through the bank accounts of the legal heirs, within seven days of the death. The state government has also directed the collectors to send monthly progress reports to the government.
