Suryapet: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) K Parthasarathi and Inspector P Veera Raghavulu for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 25 lakh, later negotiated to Rs 16 lakh, from a complainant. The accused officers were produced before the II Additional Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally, Hyderabad, on Tuesday.
According to reports, the complainant, a scanning centre owner, was facing legal issues for being involved in a fake medical certificates racket. The police
officials allegedly demanded the bribe to avoid his arrest and allow his business to continue operating without interference.
Finding himself constantly under police pressure, the complainant approached ACB officials in Nalgonda, who swiftly launched an investigation.
Following a sting operation, the ACB team, led by Additional SP Kamalakar Reddy, apprehended the DSP and Inspector. Searches were conducted at their offices and residences.
