State government is ready to face any emergency situation against Covid-19 cases: Eatala Rajender

The State government is ready to face any emergency situation arising out of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the State, Health Minister Eatela Rajender said on Monday.

“We are ready to provide treatment to 300 more patients at the Covid ward at MGM Hospital here in Warangal,” he said, and urged people not to be carried away by the false propaganda against the government Covid care hospitals.

The Minister inspected the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital (MGMH) here to take the stock of the situation with regard to the Covid-19 treatment.

Speaking to the media after the review, Rajender said that 100 ventilators and 100 ICU beds were available at the MGMH, which is the



biggest hospital in North Telangana with a total bed capacity of 1370.

“As of today, 240 Covid patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital. The number of beds for Covid can be increased by 300 if required. There is no scarcity of oxygen, Remedisivir injections, PPE kits or N95 masks at this hospital. Doctors are available round the clock,” he said, adding that 500 to 600 RT-PCR tests can be done at the KMC.

The Minister said the numbers can be increased by another 600 tests. MGMH Superintendent Dr K Nagarjun Reddy , KMC Principal S Sandhya Rani, DMHO K Lalitha Devi, and other officials accompanied the minister during the inspection and attended the review meeting.
