Six members of a family including three women and a boy, who were stuck in flood water at Seetagondi village in Gudihatnur mandal on national highway-44, were rescued the Adilabad police in coordination with the District Disaster Response Force (DDRF) on Saturday morning.

As waist-deep water entered the house of Gaikwad Ganesh near a minor canal, the family members raised an alarm at 11.30 am. The villagers alerted the Adilabad district administration.

With the help of the district Collector Rajarshi Shah, Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan rushed to the spot along with the DDRF

personnel.

After assessing the situation, the DDRF team along with the police first managed to reach Ganesh’s house. After tying a rope to his house, the DDRF staff rescued Ganesh and his family members.

Initially, they got frightened on seeing the increasing flood water but the police pacified them that all the family members would be rescued in a careful manner. After much persuasion, the family agreed to the rescue operation.

Using the rope, the DDRF team rescued the family members even as rain continued to lash the district since morning. The police dropped them at their relative’s house in Adilabad Town.
